Pirates, movies and a school holiday giveaway

Last week, Miss 9's homework included writing down her dream school holiday day.
Of course, amongst sleeping-in, and eating lots of yummy food out, she managed to fit in a trip to the movies.

We love a good school holiday movie, and I hope you do too, dear readers, because the lovely peeps at Sony Pictures Australia have come up with a fantastic movie pack giveaway just for you.

To celebrate the arrival of The Pirates! Band Of Misfits, starring Hugh Grant and Salma Hayak, Sony are generously handing over two Pirate packs each containing a family pass (admit four) to the movie, and merchandise for the kiddies.

To enter, leave a comment below, and share who your favourite pirate character from movies, books and/or folklore is and why.

Entries close on Sunday AEST at 12 midnight. And announced Monday morning. Give or take school holiday mayhem.

The competition has now ended. The winners are MichVee and Nadine.

Meanwhile check out the trailer below ....

Doesn't it look like fun?

For me it's got to be Captain Jack Sparrow from Pirates Of The Caribbean. Why? Because he is SERIOUS eye candy. 'Nuff said! :)

Another Jack Sparrow because he is really Johnny and I have loved him since 21 Jump St. Yes, I am that old. Sympathy win, please, on age alone?

My favourite is Captain Archibald Haddock from Tintin: his coarse humanity and sarcasm act as a counterpoint to Tintin's often implausible heroism.

Peter Pan is definitely my kids favourite pirate story - whether its reading or watching it. I think they have five different Peter Pan movies in their DVD cabinet, lol.

Ooohhh lurrvve a pirate. I was a teengager in the 80's so i even got to dress like one! So Adam Ant I was in my tight leggings, white pirate shirt, vest and boots. Yes, unfortunately it is true. Anyway - best pirate. Well Captain jack Sparrow is a definate contender. The dry humour, the eyeliner, being Mr Depp and all. Bodice ripper for sure. Yellowbeard - funny, funny movie. If you could get past his teeth. How about The Muppets Treasure ISland with Tim Curry as Long John Silver. We love that one. And then there is the Goonies and "One-Eyed Willie" (Surely someone was cacking themselves in the script dept - bet it was a boy)....arrgghhh - I do love me a pirate....

This movie does look like a lot of fun and my seven-year old son has already requested that I take him during the holidays. I think my favourite pirate would have to be The Pirate King from Pirates of Penzance, because my big son played that role in his last year of high school and loved being a pirate xx
